Accra prepares for marathon

Half marathon through streets of Accra on 7 October.

The third edition of Accra's international millennium marathon is scheduled to take place at 06.15 on 7 October.

Organisers hope to attract 10,000 participants for the 21-km race which begins and ends at Black Star Square. The route incorporates  John Evans Atta Mills High Street, Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Independence Avenue, Giffard Road and La Road.

In addition there is a non-competitive 5-km fun run which starts at 06.50.

The 2017 edition is being held under the theme Accra: a smart and vibrant city, and is designed to promote the capital's economic and tourism opportunities.
