Addis Ababa University to set up technology business centre

Addis Ababa University is to establish a Technology Business Incubation Center and Science and Technology Park.

The centre, which will focus on promoting excellence in entrepreneurship development as well as serving to commercialise technological innovations at the university, will offer a range of support services including infrastructure, finance and management assistance.

Speaking at a workshop designed to promote the new centre, the university’s president Admassu Tsegaye said that in addition to the facility supporting research and technology development, it would strengthen new and emerging entrepreneurial efforts and nurture innovative thinkers.

Founded in 1950, Addis Ababa university has seven campuses and over 42,000 students, and claims to be the largest university in Africa.
