During his recent visit to Arusha Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, opened the Arusha chapter of the British Business Group, a network of ex-pats to promote British business in Tanzania. Members are involved mainly in tourism, agriculture, transport, energy and the environment.

The Arusha group was launched on 14 March 2011 and covers Babati, Moshi, Mwanga and Lushoto. It has 17 formal members and about 50 within the networking group. It holds monthly meetings and the next meeting and AGM is on 1 Dec.

The Dar chapter of the BBG started in June 2009 and has 50 members, a network of 90 people and is at present looking for office accommodation.

Britain is one of the leading investors in Tanzania and according to the Tanzania Investment Centre it has invested $1.5 billion in the country since 1990 and created 240,000 jobs throughout the country.
