The 2012 carnival in Cape Town Carnival is being relocated to The Fanwalk from Long Street, where it was held for the last two years.

Organisers of the event, which takes place on 24 March, are moving to the bigger venue due to the festival's increasing numbers, with 60,000 people turning out last year.

The theme of this year's carnival is "Cape to Cairo
