Cape Town creates water parks

Cape Town residents keep cool with fun “spray parks”.

Cape Town has opened five recreational “spray parks” to keep the city's residents cool during the hot summer days.

The innovative parks – designed primarily for school children on holidays – comprise a series of fun water features, from spray guns to overhead buckets that empty their water without warning.

There are also “soft-spray” features in areas of the parks designated for toddlers.

The city claims the parks use “much less water than swimming pools" and that the water is re-circulated after being treated with a filtration system.

The parks are located in Khayelitsha‚ Nyanga‚ Valhalla Park‚ Ocean View and Scottsville.
