Financial crisis affects remittances to Africa.
Remittances to developing countries could fall by as much as six per cent in 2009 as a result of the global financial crisis according to the latest migration and development report from the World Bank. This will translate into less disposable income for many communities and increasing vulnerability to poverty.
In 2007 sub-Saharan Africa received US$19 billion in remittances, or 2.5 per cent of the region
