Mozambique and South Africa are to create a one-stop border post (OSBP) at Lebombo-Ressano Garcia to ease the movement of goods and people between the countries. Currently people and goods have to clear customs both on the South African and on the Mozambican side of the border. Construction of a new passenger terminal is expected to begin early next year and should be completed in 2010 in time for the start of the World Cup football tournament in South Africa.

The OSBP is being built within the context of the Maputo Corridor initiative to promote trade between South Africa and Mozambique and the movement of goods to and from Maputo port and of the creation of a free trade area in the Southern African Development Community.
