Residents of the middle- and upper-income suburbs north of the centre city area will be affected by power cuts over the coming weeks due to the rehabilitation of two electricity sub-stations in the area, Tanzania Electricity Supply Company (Tanesco) has said.

From 13-17 August the Oysterbay sub-station will be out of operation, leading to blackouts in the Kinondoni, Mikocheni and Oysterbay areas. Then from 22 to 26 August it will be the turn of the Masaki sub-station, affecting power supplies in the Msasani Peninsular.

The outages will inevitably cause interruptions to activities and services in an area of the city popular with ex-pats, tourists and embassies.
