Cape Town theatre at National Arts Festival

Cape Town Edge, a collective of Cape Town's independent avant-garde theatre companies, is taking eight productions to the National Arts Festival at Grahamstown this year.

The plays are In-between, a musical theatre revue; Undermined, a mix of comic-book theatre and African storytelling; Salt, which won two awards at the festival in 2014; Fatal, a tragic-comedy about Jason, played by award-winning actor Albert Pretorius; Stuart Lightbody: Devilish, about Lightbody a crafty magician; Couch, a dark comedy about a group from various racial backgrounds; Ashes, which explores the life of a young man sent from a small town to the city by his parents; The Joke's on You, a comic performance by award-winning Sne Dladla.

This year's theme at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, is African identity and belonging. The theatre festival which is the largest on the continent, provides a platform for drama, satire, comedy, storytelling, music, dance and exhibitions.
