The Slave Lodge is one of the oldest buildings in Cape Town. It is destined to become a permanent museum of slavery focussing on family roots, ancestry and the peopling of South Africa. The aim is to increase awareness on issues such as human rights, equality, peace and justice. Initial temporary exhibits will be replaced in a phased programme over the next few years; an orientation centre on slavery at the Cape is already completed.
