16 June-4 July 2009. The Egyptian International Modern Dance Festival, organized by the Egyptian Modern Dance Company and directed by Walid Aouni, celebrates its tenth edition. The programme presents a rich calendar of performances by local and international artists, who perform at different venues around town. The line-up includes the French hip hop dancers Wanted Posse (28 June in the Open Air Theatre of Cairo Opera House); the Egyptian singer Salah Al-Brogy (29 June in the Small Hall of Cairo Opera House) and Mohamed Fawzi, composer and singer of classical Arab music (29 June at El Sawi Cultural Centre in Zamalek); the Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Co., which showcases Indian contemporary dance (30 June at Gomhouria Theatre); the Egyptian musician Kareem Khalil (2 July at El Sawi Cultural Centre in Zamalek); the Palestinian Sareyyet Ramallah Troupe for Music and Dance, which performs pieces of the Arab cultural heritage (3 July at the Gomhouria Theatre).
