The premier of this rock musical, with its 25-member cast, seven-piece rock band accompanied by the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, plus a host of advanced digital aids.
Rockville2069 is set in the year of the 100th anniversary of Woodstock to the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world after the earth has been destroyed by man-made climate change. Only Rockville, a small archipelago of islands has been saved, home to a group of peace-loving rockers, who play at dawn and dusk every day for their survival. But ragged outsiders attempt to break up the harmony of this utopia.
The musical, which is the creation of Durban-born composer Johnny Ray, has been five years in the making. The music was first released in 2012.
