The Historic Archive of Mozambique was founded in 1934 to bring together scattered archives and create a bibliographical collection on Mozambique. In 1939 it was defined as an “instrument of cultural history” and “archive of the colonial government”. Today the archive is responsible for defining policies for the management and preservation of collective memory in Mozambique as well as of external sources of national interest.
