The information resource center (IRC) was opened in 1984 to promote information exchange about the United States as well as to strengthen Mozambican-American cultural ties. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Library was established in January 1993 and provides books for loan related to the US and literature by American authors and an extensive collection of popular and professional magazines and serials for consultation. Members can access the internet free of charge on the IRC’s computers; prior registration for one-hour sessions is requested. Members can only read, download and print from the internet; no e-mail service is provided. The IRC is open to the general public, by appointment, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 09.00-17.00 and to journalists, American citizens and special appointments Wednesday 09.00-1700 and Friday 0900 – 1100.
