The East African Submarine Cable System (EASSy) linking Sudan to South Africa has gone into service, providing another boost for high-speed internet services in the region.

In an email to wantedinafrica.com Chris Wood, chief executive officer of the West Indian Ocean Cable Company (WIOCC), the main investment vehicle for the project, confirmed:
