Nympine Chissano, the eldest son of former Mozambican president Joaquim Chissano, has died at his home in Maputo aged 37. He is believed to have been ill for some time, although the exact cause of death has not been established.
Last year Chissano was put under investigation in connection with the murder of Mozambican investigative journalist Carlo Cardoso in 2000 after one of the six people convicted for the assassination accused Chissano of ordering the killing.
