Ghanas electoral commission will be updating the voters register from Friday 21 April to Sunday 30 April in preparation for local government elections in August. During this period all Ghanaians aged 18 and over who are not currently registered to vote may do so at centres across the country. Registration will be from 07.00 to 18.00 daily including Saturdays and Sundays. The electoral commission is also calling on Ghanaians to report deceased relatives and friends so that their names can be removed from the register. People who have changed residence do not need to register again. In August Ghanaians will be called to elect their representatives on the 124 district assemblies, ten municipal assemblies and four metropolitan assemblies across the country. The last local elections were held in August 2002.
