Over 50 delegates from all over Africa are to gather in Addis Ababa from 11 to 13 December for a conference on ways to boost citizens faith in their governments. The regional forum, which is being hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, is a precursor to the seventh global forum on reinventing government, scheduled to be held in Vienna in June 2007. Participants will look at ways that can and have been used by governments to earn and strengthen citizens trust, including ensuring good conduct of public officials and effective decentralization and electoral processes and public service delivery. They will also draw up a list of recommendations to be presented at the forum in the Austrian capital next year.
