Heineken to build brewery in Maputo

Brewery will open in Marracuene district of Maputo in 2019.

Dutch brewing company Heineken has begun construction on a $100 million brewery in the Marracuene district of Maputo.
When it becomes operational in the first half of 2019 the factory will have an annual production capacity of 80,000 hectolitres.
It will be the first brewery in Mozambique for the Heineken company which began promoting and importing beers such as Heineken, Amstel and Sagres to Mozambique in 2016.
Heineken is the world’s second-largest brewer after Belgian transnational company AB InBev which gained a brewery in Maputo last year after taking over the SABMiller group.
