Efforts are continuing in Nairobi to seek a negotiated solution to the political impasse sparked by the disputed presidential elections of 27 December. International news sources report that fresh talks got underway on 10 January between defeated opposition candidate Raila Odinga of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and president of Ghana and chairman of the African Union John Kufuor, who arrived in Kenya on an internationally backed mediation mission on 8 January.
