Diane Corner is the new British high commissioner to the Republic of Tanzania. She replaces Philip Parham, who leaves Tanzania at the end of January after three years in post.

Corner is a career diplomat with extensive experience of sub-Saharan Africa, having served as deputy high commissioner in Zimbabwe and most recently as acting high commissioner in Sierra Leone. She is due to take up her new post in February.

Parham, a one-time investment banker and former head of the counter-terrorism policy department in the foreign and commonwealth office in London, has been appointed as the new British deputy permanent representative to the United Nations in New York.
