Ethiopians can now send SMS text messages in their own alphabet thanks to a new mobile phone developed by Nokia for the local market, the BBC news website reports. For now Nokia has issued only a basic model, the 1200, costing around $50. However, it plans to introduce four more sophisticated models in due course.
