Egyptian parliamentary elections are scheduled to begin on 28 November. An estimated 50 million Egyptians are eligible to vote for the roughly 50 parties and more than 5,000 independent candidates vying for the 500 seats in the new parliament, which will be charged with drafting a democratic constitution.

The elections are expected to last for six weeks to allow sufficient time for judges to preside over voters at polling stations across Egypt. Egypt
