International Women's Day in Accra

8 and 11 March. Exhibitions and discussions organised by African's Women's Development fund with Alliance Francaise.

To mark international women's day on 8 March two events in Accra centre on women in the arts and women-male relationships on campus.

The first discussion group (8 March) is to the background of the exhibition by Nana Kofi Acquah entitled “Don't Call me Beautiful” showing at the Alliance Francaise. Nana Kofi Acquah, a self-declared male feminist, is known for his photographs of women at their most accomplished and at their most vulnerable.

On 11 March there is first a showing of The Hunting Group a documentary about rape at United States universities, followed by a discussion titled “About Last Night” on questions such as date rape and violence against women. The exhibition is at Alliance Francaise d'Accra, Casely Hayford Road, www.afacraa.org. The film viewing and discussion are at the University of Ghana, Legon.
