Ministers, heads of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, donor organisations and civil society representatives from over 100 countries are to gather in Accra for an international forum on aid effectiveness from 2-4 September. The meeting, the first of its kind to be held in a developing country, will explore the progress made in applying the so-called Paris Declaration, a set of principles agreed in 2005 to reform aid delivery and management to achieve greater effectiveness and results. Topics for discussion include long-term donor commitment, the reduction of conditions attached to development assistance and the strengthening of parliamentary oversight in developing countries.
