Cape Town city council has announced plans to encourage companies, organisations or even private individuals to fund a law enforcement officer, traffic cop or metro policeman in order to boost recruitment and improve local security. Under the scheme the officers will be trained and employed by the city while sponsors will pay their salaries as well as 50 per cent of equipment and operating costs.
