Three people have been killed and nine seriously injured in an explosion in a minibus taxi in Addis Ababa, international news agencies report. The blast occurred on 20 May at around 19.30 local time on a road linking the Hilton Hotel and the foreign ministry in the city centre. All the victims were travelling in the vehicle.

The blast was the latest in a series of explosions in the Ethiopian capital which have been blamed on extremists backed by neighbouring Eritrea. However, Eritrea has always denied the accusations, instead laying the blame on dissident groups within Ethiopia itself.
