26 Nov-6 Dec 2009. Pick juicy apricots at De Krans Winery in Calitzdorp and indulge in a delicious lunch prepared in true South African braai style.

De Krans Wine cellar, which is situated along the picturesque Gamka River Valley, has a history going back to 1890. The present owners and cellar master are brothers Boets as well as Stroebel Nel, the viticulturist.

The cellar has won more than 500 medals and awards since 1980 and has been crowned Champion Private Wine Cellar in the Klein Karoo region many times. It is known internationally particularly for its award-winning ports and interesting red wines. Wine tasting is offered daily from Monday to Friday (08.00-17.00) and Saturdays (09.00-15.00). Visitors can also walk the 30-minute trial through the vineyard.

De Krans is closed on Sundays, while reservations must be made if you are planning to pick apricots for a Saturday or Wednesday. To book your spot or for more information on activities at the De Krans cellar, call Hannacke Fourie or Helet Viljoen at 044 213 3314.
