16-17 Dec 2009. This is the first festival dedicated to art video, installation and multimedia in Egypt. It has been organized by Zinc and Instants Video, two cultural organisations from Marseille, in conjunction with French and Egyptian artists.
The festival is inspired by the celebrations for the centenary of the Italian Futurism and is especially dedicated to one of its founders, Marinetti, who was born in Alexandria. Its aim is to further the relationship between cinema, art video and futurism.
The programme includes workshops and debates with participating artists, who include Ahmed Saleh, Mohamed Essamra, Hadel Nazmy, Islam Kamel, Lamia Moghzy, MohamedTaman, Mohamed Youssef, Renaud Vercey and Bruno Voillot/Collectif Position.
Before travelling to Cairo, the festival will be in Alexandria from 6 to 13 Dec.
