27 January 2010. This movie by Paul Lindsay is entitled Before the Flood: Tuvalu is part of the series Thursday Films @ Goethe-Institut. The story is set in Tuvalu, a paradisiacal small island of the Pacific, which is expected to be submerged by rising sea levels caused by climate change within a few decades, causing great anxiety among its inhabitants.

This island sold its internet domain "tv" in the 1990s, thus raising the living standards of its inhabitants and introducing the so-called "American Way of Life". This movie shows the problems and the negative impact caused by the abandon of short-term consumption in favour of long-term quality of life.

Projection starts at 19.30 and lasts 62 minutes.
