Geraldine Robarts’ Spirit of Africa

30 May-10 June 2012. This exhibition, entitled The Spirit of Africa, displays a series of about 20 paintings by the English painter Geraldine Robarts.

Her paintings, which are dedicated to the past and future spirit of Africa, express her cry for global peace and international understanding and cooperation.

Robarts likes to depict the most diverse African masks and rituals, which are rich in magical signs and symbols. After 20 years of oil paintings, Robarts has recently rediscovered watercolours, which portray with vivid and vibrant colours the life and people in Kenya.

The South African based artist conceives art as a creative expression of the human spirit, a reflection of deeply felt spiritual beliefs as well as a visual language. Robarts also believes that educating children in arts is crucial for their spiritual and moral development.
