Jak Katarikawe

Katarikawe is often called Africa's Chagall because of his dream-world subject matter and his use of colours.

He is quoted as saying that everything he paints – and sometimes there is a fine demarkation line between the human and the animal world in his creations – is inspired by his dreams.

This self-taught, Ugandan-born artist has had several exhibitions in the US and Europe since his first exhibition in Uganda in the 1960s.
