19 January 2011. Goethe Institut presents Global Prayers-Redemption and Liberation in the City, a multifaceted research project on the worldwide boom of new urban religious communities.

Its aim is to stimulate a public debate on the return of religion into the world's cities, a key social topic of the future, which has long been neglected. This project combines diverse academic and cultural methods of investigation and puts into comparison religious communities in Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro, Istanbul, Lagos, Mumbai, London, Beirut and Berlin.

This joint project is born from the collaboration between the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), the European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder) and metroZones, a centre for urban affairs.

Event starts at 18.00.
