5-7 May 2006. The sister towns of Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West in the heart of the Swartland district north of Cape Town once again play host to the annual olive festival, which is fast becoming a highlight of the South African culinary year. The programme includes olive grove tours, olive and olive oil tastings, wine cellar tours and wine tastings, cheese tastings, a local farmers market, art exhibitions and musical performances. For full programme details see the festival website. The Riebeek Valley is an easy one hours drive from Cape Town on the N7 heading north. There is also a Riebeek Valley olive festival train that runs from Cape Town to Riebeek Kasteel on 6 and 7 May.
