30 April-2 May 2009. Singers, producers, sound engineers and other representatives of the music industry in Ethiopia and beyond gather in Addis Ababa for the first edition of the Selam Music Festival organised by Stockholm-based music organisation Selam and the Swedish East African Music Network (SEAMN). Directed by Selam founder Teshome Wondimu, the festival features a series of live music performances as well as conferences, debates and workshops. The concert line-up includes band Sauti Sol from Kenya, singer Ay from Tanzania and Sweden-based Jaqee from Uganda. For full programme details see the Selam website.
