10-14 June 2010. The second edition of the Sigana International Storytelling Festival takes place under the title Wonders of Living Tales. Over 15 professional storytellers from diferent countries including Diane Ferlatte from the US, Jeeva Raghunath from India, Mats Rehnman and Peter Hagberg from Sweden and Alumbe Namai, Githanda Githake and Grace Wangare from Kenya animate a programme of seminars, workshops and storytelling performances to illustrate the universal force of this spoken word art form. The festival is organised by Zamaleo Arts and Culture Trust (zamaleoACT), an east African organisation for African culture and the performing arts. The name is a composite of two Kiswahili words, zamani (meaning old times) and leo (today), reflecting the fusion of contemporary artistic practice and the rich African creative heritage.
