The MyCiTi inner city loop service is to end on 18 July but should return in an improved version later this year, the Cape Town city council has said.

The bus service, which travels in a clockwise and anti-clockwise loop around the central City Bowl area, was introduced on 29 May ahead of the FIFA World Cup as part of transport provisions for visiting football fans.

Instead the new MyCiTi link between the Civic Centre on Hertzog Boulevard and Cape Town international airport will continue to run as a permanent service between the hours of 04.20 and 22.00 daily at 20 minute intervals for R50 one-way.

The special event shuttle between Hertzog Boulevard Station and the new Green Point stadium, which launched on 11 June for the start of the football tournament, will continue for large events at the stadium.

The details of the improved inner city service have not been made known but a city spokesman told the Cape Times that it would
