On 1 June Addis Ababans will have the chance to watch Ethiopias national team playing some of the top names in Italian footballing history in a fund-raising match at the city stadium. The event begins at 14.00 with a game between Ethiopian and foreign high school children. This will be followed by the official opening ceremony attended by the Italian ambassador to Ethiopia, the ministers of culture and sport and representatives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF). The game between the Ethiopian squad and the so-called Italian Master Team kicks off at 16.30. Italy will be fielding Paolo Rossi, who led Italy to the World Cup title in 1982, Toto Schillaci, top scorer of the 1990 World Cup, Marco Tardelli, who played in the 1978 and 1982 World Cups, and midfielder Nicola Berti, who played in the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, among others. Proceeds from the event will go towards a project in support of the elderly and another to reintegrate street children into society through sporting activities.
