Tenders are now open for the creation of a new departure terminal at Cape Towns international airport as part of a R1.2 redevelopment for the 2010 football World Cup in South Africa. The successful bidder will be responsible for overseeing the integration of the existing domestic departures and arrivals terminals into one large departure terminal for both domestic and international traffic. A separate arrivals terminal also for domestic and international passengers will be created on a lower floor. The new integrated terminal will be in addition to the existing international arrivals and departures terminals, which opened in 2001 and 2003 respectively. Cape Town International is South Africas second largest airport and it expects to see passenger traffic increase from five million people a year in 2003 to 14 million by 2015.
