Over 5,000 people have been left homeless in the Cape Town area following flooding due to heavy rainfall, local media sources report. More than 1,000 shacks in informal settlements on and around the Cape Flats were flooded during heavy downpours on 19 and 20 June. Affected communities include Samora Machel, Kosovo and Browns Farm in Phillipi, Marcus Garvey in Mitchell
