New flights from Addis Ababa

Ethiopian Airlines has announced new flights from Addis Ababa to Toronto, beginning on 16 July.

The airline said that the twice-weekly service will be the only regularly-scheduled non-stop flight from Toronto to the African continent.

Toronto will be the carrier’s 67th international destination, and second in the Americas after New York.

Meanwhile Ethihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, is to launch flights between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in November.

The flights, which are to operate initially five times a week, will become daily in 2013.

Addis Ababa will be the ninth African destination for the United Arab Emirates-based carrier.
