The battle between Nigeria and British Airways over the price of tickets and landing rights, which has disrupted air traffic between the two countries for weeks, has been called off until the end of the year.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has accused both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic of taking advantage of their dominant position, price fixing and abuse of fuel surcharges.

Nigeria is claiming that the cost of British Airways flights between London and Lagos is too high and more than the equivalent fare from neighbouring Accra. Nigerian civil aviation authorities are also angry that the Nigerian carrier, Arik Air, has fewer landing slots at Heathrow at present than British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have at Lagos.
