Lagos state government has launched a street soccer championship to identify new talent and give young footballers a chance to emerge. The knock-out tournament will run from February through November 2008 and will take place across all 57 local government areas in the state. Registration opens on 1 January and lasts a month. Fees for registration range from N500 to N2,000. The winning teams will be awarded cash prizes and state-sponsored trips to Brazil, South Africa and Ghana.
