Four young Kenyans will be taking part in the London mini marathon on 23 April as part of the Next Generation programme run by the British High Commission in Nairobi to foster sporting excellence among young people in Kenya and the United Kingdom. Charity Wandia (13), Simon Lukwavi (13), Solinte Kortol (14) and Sikinan Maiyani (15), all from Lewa in central Kenya, were chosen for the four-day trip following their excellent performance in the Safaricom Lewa Marathon in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy near Mount Kenya in 2005. The youngsters will visit schools and meet elite runners in London during their stay. This years edition of the Lewa marathon, the only marathon to take place in a game park, will be held on 24 June.
