2009 World Press Photo exhibition in Maputo

3-22 Oct 2009. The Dutch embassy in Maputo presents the World Press Photo exhibition in Fortaleza de Maputo. The 196 photographs included in this travelling exhibition have been selected by an independent jury from nearly 100,000 submissions. The winning image, in black and white, by American photographer Anthony Suau shows an armed officer of the Cuyahoga County sheriff's department moving through a home in Cleveland, Ohio, following eviction as a result of mortgage foreclosure.

World Press Photo is an independent, non-profit organization founded in Amsterdam in 1955; its main aim is to support and promote globally the work of professional press photographers.
