Addis Film Festival

1-6 May 2012. The sixth edition of the Addis International Documentary Film Festival, founded by Kebour Ghenna and his team, s together young graduates and professional directors. Its rich programme foresees the screening of over 50 local and foreign documentaries from over 40 countries, which will be projected at the Martyrs Memorial in Meskel Square as well as at Alliance Française, the British Council, the Italian Institute, the Addis Ababa University, the Bole Youth Center and universities in Mekele and Hawassa.

The programme includes famous and award winning movies, also some short films coming exclusively from Ethiopia. The artistic director and coordinator of this edition Faben Getachew says that the 50-strong lineup, includes hotly anticipated new films like the Force of Nature from David Suzuki, Town of Runners from Daniel Demissie, Waste Land by Lucy Walker and many more.

The festival will host film directors and producers, such as Carl Angus (Waste Land), Eli Cal’el (The Name my Mother Gave me), Neveen Shalady (The Agenba and I) and Nina Kusturica (Little Alien), who will be present during the screening of their films and participate to discussions with the audience. The films will compete for the best documentary award, best Ethiopian film and best audience awards. The first two will be selected by a jury, while the last will be selected by the audience.
