Each artist focuses on a different aspect of the culture of bread and its significance for societies around the world. Viewers are explicitly invited to question their relationship to the staple and the way they perceive it. Bread is the simplest and most humble of foods and yet also the most crucial and symbolic one. It can speak of a nation and its inhabitants and has great cultural and socio-political importance.
