5 March-6 April 2012. This exhibition pays homage to the Kenyan artist Mbuthia Maina and offers a journey through Maina’s past works. Maina is considered one of the most important personalities in the history of Kenyan art. On display is a series of works, inspired by anthropology and sociology, which often consist of portraits of his journeys and experiences. In the 1990s Maina emerged as a conceptual artist, who used several media such as video art. In 1997 Maina joined Kuona Trust Art Studios at the National Museum and in 2002 he participated at the Liverpool Biennale.
