The Lagos Book and Art Festival features books, art, music and theatre. This year's LABAF theme is “The Nigerian centenary: The Lagos Narrative” to highlight the role that Lagos has played in the formation of the Nigerian state.
The LABAF, which was first launched in 1999 and is targeted at families and their children, is sponsored by the British Council and CORA Arts and Cultural Foundation.
Its prime aim is to promote the mass appeal of books and over the years it has also included all the visual and performing arts. It is held in Freedom Park, the old colonial prison on Lagos Island.
