American University in Cairo offers University of London courses

The American University in Cairo is to offer courses from the University of London's international programmes. The move is designed to increase the range of study programmes available for graduate students from Egypt and surrounding regions.

Following a student recruitment drive in January 2011, the programmes offered include diplomas in information systems, banking with guidance from the London School of Economics, and postgraduate certificates and diplomas in international management, directed from Royal Holloway, one of the largest colleges in the University of London.

The courses offered are in line with the recommendations of a recent report commissioned by the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OCDE), which advised Egypt to implement an upgraded and flexible higher education system.

Founded in 1919, the independent, apolitical American University of Cairo is situated in the wealthy suburb of New Cairo south of Nasr and functions as the region
